Elegant Fall Wedding at Glen Foerd Estate

There are just some couples you meet and it’s an instant connection. That’s what happened when I met Bill and Jim. Together these two and their love were magnetic and absolutely radiating. The way that these two bounce off each other was pure magic. When they inquired about me capturing their wedding day, my heart was so warm I couldn’t help but feel so grateful. Bill and Jim had an elegant fall wedding at Glen Foerd Estate. Oh and just you wait until you look at these photos…

Glen Foerd // Philadelphia Wedding Venue

Glen Foerd is an estate located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The main house was built back in 1850. Since then the home has undergone major transformations. It’s been expanded and refurbished through the time it was a private residence. Today, this stunning wedding venue sits on eighteen acres of lush land. Trees, flowering shrubs, a formal rose garden, a vineyard, and several other beauties are located on the property. The estate has a large space that makes it one of the most amazing, spacious and well laid out wedding venues in Philadelphia.

At Glen Foerd they can help celebrate your wedding day with up to 300 guests. You have gorgeous waterfront views and the amazing history of the estate to admire. Not only that, but the venue is also in close proximity to downtown Philadelphia. Glen Foerd offers a one-of-a-kind experience that I absolutely rave about! Getting Ready & First Look

It was a gorgeous Sunday afternoon and Bill and Jim were waiting in anticipation for the day’s festivities. We started off the day with both Bill and Jim finishing getting ready. The estate has a getting ready suite that many couples use to get ready. We made sure to get both Bill and Jim in that suite so we could take a few solo portraits.

Shortly after we had Bill and Jim meet up in one of the foyers of Glen Foerd for their first look. One thing about first looks is that we love them. Seriously, they are some of our favorite moments throughout the entire day. However, it’s important to know that if you’re planning on having a first look it is not a last minute decision. Your wedding day timeline is built based on what moments you want captured by your wedding photographer. If you want enough time to fit a first look in on your wedding day, you need to know that 99.9% of the time you will need to sacrifice some time in order to fit everything in throughout the day. That means waking up earlier and getting ready earlier so that you can fit in a first look. Don’t worry though, the results are completely worth it.

Ceremony & Cocktail Hour

After their first look, wedding guests began rolling in. It was time for the moment that we all had been waiting for… to get these two lovers married! Glen Foerd estate sits on property that overlooks the Delaware River. So in front of these amazing waterfront views, Bill and Jim said their vows in an outdoor ceremony surrounded by their close family and friends. It was an emotional one for sure, and one that left everyone reaching for the tissue box.

Right after the ceremony was a brief cocktail hour. Sometimes during cocktail hour we will steal our couples away for a few portraits. In some cases, couples will choose to take portraits during the reception instead. This is so they can spend some time with their wedding guests but also soak up the golden hour that typically happens during the reception. Bill and Jim opted to spend some time with their guests, enjoy a few drinks, and munch on some snacks as we wait for the reception space inside the estate to be set up.

Reception & Golden Portraits

One the reception space was set up inside, everyone gathered in celebration of Jim and Bill. The main thing you want to remember is that during your wedding reception, you want to give everyone time. Time to relax, time to mingle, time to eat. You never want to feel rushed, so neither do your guests. Your wedding reception is the time where you should be having fun, lighthearted and most of all a celebration.

After some touching speeches and emotional first dances with their parents, we snuck Bill and Jim for a few sunset portraits out by the water on the property. It was the perfect way to end their wedding day and we feel so honored to have been the ones to capture these moments.
