Chic Pennsylvania Wedding at Penn Oaks Golf Club

Caitlin and Sean’s wedding focused on those beautiful steel blue, white, and cream tones. It was absolute perfection. Over the years that they’ve been together, their love has continued to flourish and grow. They first inquired with AKP back in April of 2021, and since then they have been going through the motions of wedding planning gathering all the final details. The day finally came to capture their wedding and to say we were blown away would be an understatement. Their chic Pennsylvania wedding at Penn Oaks Golf Club was one that AKP will continue to rave about for quite some time.

Penn Oaks Golf Club

Penn Oaks Golf Club is located in West Chester, Pennsylvania. Of course, you can experience a grand golfing experience, but in this case, Penn Oaks also does a fantastic job hosting weddings. They were actually voted Chester County’s “Best Wedding Venue” in previous years.  Penn Oaks also offers plenty of amenities that vary depending on which package you book. Although each differs with their amenities, they still offer quality service and hospitality to all of their wedding couples and guests. Check out more of their wedding packages!

Getting Ready & First Looks

It was an early Saturday afternoon as AKP arrived to capture the day’s festivities. It was here that we took some getting-ready portraits of Caitlin while our second photographer, Emilly, took some detail photos. Sean and his groomsmen were still at their getting-ready location from earlier that day, but don’t worry… you’ll see them soon enough. As Caitlin finished the final touches of her look, her mom and sister helped slip her into her wedding dress.

Sean and his groomsmen arrived and Emilly made our way over to capture a few solo portraits of them. It wasn’t long though until it was time to get Sean ready for his first look with Caitlin. Before his first look though, Caitlin had chosen to do a first look with her Dad outside. As you can imagine, there were a lot of tears however that can be expected. Speaking of tears, don’t even get us started on Sean’s reaction seeing Caitlin. One word… emotional.

Portraits

Shortly after, we had a bit of “downtime” before the ceremony. Oh and by downtime we totally mean a complete plan of what we were going to do ahead of time -because Caitlin and I are BOTH planners. Now was the perfect time for some portraits! The remainder of the wedding party then came to join as we took some group shots. Keep in mind that the larger the wedding party, the more coordination is involved! We have to be able to direct and instruct prompts for you and your wedding party, so it’s important during this time to listen to your photographer so everything runs smoothly and on time. Don’t worry though, we make sure to do some fun candid poses to let everyone’s personalities shine through!

Ceremony

Beyond the wedding party portraits, the clock struck 5:30 and we knew it was time for us to head to the ceremony. Underneath the outdoor pavilion, Caitlin and Sean were married. The weather was absolutely beautiful, although a bit windy, we still were able to make it work and enjoyed the blue skies.

Reception

After the ceremony was a brief cocktail hour before it was time for the reception space to open up for the wedding guests to trickle in. Caitlin and Sean came strolling in, hand in hand and grinning from ear to ear. All of the stress, waiting and planning were all worth it for this moment and their faces said it all. We enjoyed a beautiful first dance moment between them before breaking off to their parents’ first dances. During the reception, we also took a few moments to steal Caitlin and Sean for golden hour portraits, which in our eyes are a MUST. While it’s not actually necessary to grab sunset shots, let’s just say you will absolutely love the end results if you do.

What is an Unannounced Cake Cutting?

After sunset portraits, we headed back inside for Caitlin and Sean to cut the cake. Now, Caitlin and Sean decided to do an unannounced cake-cutting. This essentially means rather than having all eyes on them for this moment, they decided to cut the cake at a scheduled time that didn’t interrupt the dance floor. It’s a lot more casual and takes some of the spotlight and pressure off of the couple!

We ended the night with a lot of dancing on the dance floor. Seriously, our feet are still a bit sore to this day. Nonetheless, it was the perfect ending to their wedding day and we will take sore feet ANYDAY.

Cheers to Caitlin and Sean on an absolutely magical day!
