Fall Wedding at The Manor House at Prophecy Creek

One of the best parts of my job is being able to capture each love story in their own unique way. When Allison and Aaron first inquired for their wedding, they made it clear that they wanted to stick to more candid imagery over anything else. They wanted to remember how every moment felt, every emotion behind every photo. After exchanging ideas it was only right that we were a perfect match. Through months of planning and coordination the day finally arrived for Allison and Aaron’s Fall Wedding at The Manor House at Prophecy Creek.

Getting Ready

The day started off with the AKP team arriving at Allison & Aaron’s wedding venue, The Manor House at Prophecy Creek. Allison was finishing up getting ready with her bridesmaids while our second photographer was with the Groom and his groomsmen getting them fixed up and ready for the day’s festivities. The AKP strongly encourages having a second photographer on your special day, which is why every AKP collection includes a lead and second photographer. Want to know why? Check out this blog here where we go more in-depth as to why you should have a second photographer!

First Looks

After taking a few detail photos, it was time for Allison to slip into her dress. I don’t think I’ve ever gasped that hard… okay that’s a lie. I gasp every time my brides put on their dresses, I can’t help it! First looks are probably one of the most emotionally intense moments of your entire wedding day. Aside from the ceremony of course… and the wedding speeches… and the first dance. Okay moral of the story, bring a box of tissues. Anyways, a first look can be really intense no matter who you do it with. Yes, you read that right, a first look does not only have to be with your partner. I talk more about what a first look is and why a first look can be important on a wedding day here in this blog!

Allison not only did a first look with her bridesmaids, but she did a first look with her Dad as well! Here come the tears… Again, like I said these moments can be an emotional rollercoaster so be prepared with some waterproof mascara and a tissue box. It wasn’t long until we brought Allison outside to do her first look with Aaron. I’m going to let the photos speak for this one though (scroll to find out).

Portraits

Once we were finished with the first look, we gathered up the wedding party for some portraits. Now keep in mind, that portraits can be one of the many time-consuming components of your wedding day. Your wedding photographer has most likely created a wedding timeline to help keep everyone on track with the entire day. We here at AKP recommend following this timeline as closely as possible. The reason that we create the timeline in the first place is to make sure that we are staying on track and that everything you want to be captured is done so in a timely manner. We take into account travel time, buffer times if things run late and what type of photos you’re looking for.

Tip: Have a designated individual on your wedding day to help organize your wedding party/family for photos. Preferably someone who won’t be photographed. That way everything runs smoother and we run into less confusion overall.

We took some photos of the wedding party and family before sneaking off with Allison & Aaron for a few solo portraits. As mentioned before, The Manor House at Prophecy Creek has gorgeous gardens located on the property, so finding stunning scenery was not a problem here. Since the wedding was during the fall time we were able to have some AMAZING weather which made these photos turn out all the more beautiful.

Ceremony

Allison and Aaron’s wedding ceremony was just as beautiful as you could imagine. They had this amazing outdoor ceremony set up right next to a pond and it was something straight out of a storybook. During the ceremony, we try to stay as discrete as possible. Clearly, you may hear us snapping away in the background but they don’t call us professional third wheelers for nothing! For those of you who don’t know, wedding ceremonies don’t actually take as long as you think. They are usually between 30 min – 1 hour long, but this time can FLY BY. Before we knew it, the officiant was pronouncing them husband & wife, and Allison & Aaron were officially married – woohoo!

Reception

Shortly after cocktail hour and stealing Allison & Aaron for some golden hour portraits we moved into the reception. Not only is this the most intense part of the night, but it is for sure the most fun. Here is where everyone gets to let loose, have fun, and of course CELEBRATE! Allison and Aaron did their first dance with each other before breaking off to do first dances with their parents.

First dances are a common tradition for weddings but are certainly not necessary. There is often this thought that you have to do your wedding a “certain way” in order for it to be acceptable. That’s just not the case anymore! Your wedding day should be how you want it, in every which way, shape, and form. If you want to skip out on cake cutting, first dances and move straight into bustin’ a move on the dance floor with Uncle Bob, we say GO FOR IT! Make your day your own and relish in this special moment with you and your partner.

Before saying our final goodbyes, Allison decided to do a bouquet toss with was the perfect send-off for the night. We couldn’t have been more thrilled to photograph such a special day for Aaron and Allison and we are wishing them nothing but the best! Cheers to Allison and Aaron!!
